Academy defeated Moriarty 10-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Brady Forde induced a fly out from Naz Garcia to finish off the game.
The Chargers grabbed an early lead on a single by Sebastian Baca, a single by Markus Parrish, a walk by TJ Kim, and a single by Nicky Gaeto in the first inning.
Bobby Ortega earned the win for Albuquerque Academy Chargers. He threw four innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, striking out four, and walking one. Garcia took the loss for Moriarty. He went four innings, surrendering six runs, seven hits, and striking out five.
The Chargers had nine hits in the game. Gaeto and Parrish each collected multiple hits and Parrish, Gaeto, and Baca each drove in one run to lead Academy. The Chargers stole nine bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Jon Saiz led the way with three.
